Rachel is a multimedia science journalist with research experience in archaeology, infectious diseases, and neuroimmunology. She worked on archaeology digs in Turkey, England, and Ireland, then moved into the lab where she studied the brain and the immune system for her undergraduate and master's theses at Stanford and Harvard. Since turning in her lab coat, Rachel graduated from the MIT Graduate Program in Science Writing. Her writing has appeared in Smithsonian, Nature, Slate, NOVA Next, National Geographic News, bioGraphic, Hakai Magazine, Nature Medicine and the YouTube series Gross Science and MinuteEarth. She's now a staff science reporter for The Verge.
